APC SET TO MONITOR ONDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION 2024
On Thursday and Friday, November 2024, Senator Dr. Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), conducted a comprehensive review of the technological systems and personnel at the APC Situation Room. This hub, established to oversee the Ondo State governorship election, aims to ensure a successful monitoring outcome while allowing for a detailed analysis and postmortem of the electoral process to enhance future elections.
The APC Election Monitoring Committee is headed by His Excellency Governor Monday Okpabolo, the Executive Governor of Edo State. Governor Okpabolo, accompanied by members of the APC National Monitoring Committee, visited the APC Situation Room where Senator Ajibola Basiru and his team provided a detailed overview of the systems in place for election oversight.
Governor Okpabolo commended Senator Basiru and expressed his admiration for the technological setup and specialized team put in place.
Senator Ajibola Basiru brilliantly assembled a team of talented and tech-savvy youths to spearhead the election monitoring process. He was joined in his assessment by His Excellency Comrade Philip Shaibu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, who brought his expertise in technologically driven election management and monitoring to support the initiative of Senator Basiru. Comrade Ayodele Adewale, the immediate past Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Lagos State and current APC State Organising Secretary for Lagos, shared insights on grassroots mobilization, feedback mechanisms and its impact. The trio have engaged in extensive discussions and strategic planning over three days in Akure the capital of Ondo State, working late into the night to fine-tune their election monitoring strategies.
Incidentally, Senator Dr. Ajibola Basiru was a great students’ union leader during his undergraduate years at the University and pro-democracy activist; Comrade Philip Shaibu was President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) while Comrade Ayodele Adewale served as the Public Relations Officer of NANS in the administration of Comrade Philip Shaibu. They all sacrificed their academic comfort during the military regime by joining forces with pro-democracy civil rights activists such as Prof. Wole Soyinka, Chief Gani Fawehi, Dr. Beko Ransom-Kuti, Babaoniwide Omojola, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Mr. Femi Falana, Mr. Femi Aborishade, Comrade Lanre Arogundade, Comrade Pa Ola Oni, Comrade Chima Ubani, Barr. Barr. Bamidele Aturu, Dr. Joe Oke and Mr. Yinka Odumakin, Dr. Sylvester Odion, Dr. Abubaka Momoh, Prof. Eskotoyo, Senator Sani Musa, Barr. Olisa Agbakoba, Barr. Ayo Obey, Comrade Michael Igaga and many more to enthrone democracy in Nigeria.
All efforts are geared towards ensuring victory for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC. The tireless door-to-door campaigns and the technological innovations deployed reflect the party’s commitment to a transparent and successful election. The APC remains optimistic about a resounding victory, reaffirming its dedication to democratic principles and good governance.
