EKO NAFEST 2022; BADAGRY WEST DISPLAY CULTURAL TOURISM THROUGH ZANGBETO PERFORMANCE
With the rousing sound of the Zangbeto’s drumming syncopation, chants and eulogy filled with ecstasy from the Gogoke cultural troupe, Badagry West participants storm the Onikan Stadium for the year 2022 National Festival of Arts and Culture hosted by the Lagos State Government under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
The crowd could not hold their bond as everyone focuses on the porpular Badagry Zangbeto whoose acrobatic dance steps and wooving movements from one end of the stadium to the other was amazing.
The team led by Solomon ZOSU, SSA to the Chairman on Information, Tourism and Special Works said Badagry West was fully prepared for this years NAFEST to showcase the peculiarity of the area.
Our local government is a growing local government in terms of tourism but we are coping fast and we are taking over soon. Zosu said.
“One of the reasons for our setback in tourism was because the local government does not have a department for it, but now that the State has approved for a unit to take care of tourism development at the grassroot it will help enhance the sector.
“..we will definitely bring new ideas on board that will surpass what is already existing, we are thinking outside the box.” Zosu added
Speaking further, Zosu appreciates the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Gbenu Joseph Henugbe for given the team every necessary support to make their movement to the venue and performance a top notch.
Gbenu is indeed a true leader who understands the importance of every sector especially cultural tourism, his dynamic leadership style is second to none. He said.
Mr. Folorunsho Akeem Taiwo assures that the team would be coming back to take the trophy as the winner for the local government category on Sunday which is the grand finale. He also thank the council chairman, Hon. Gbenu and the Council Manager, Mrs. Attah for their cooperation.
The event had in attendance HE Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Pham. Uzamat, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, HIM Ooni of Ife, Hon. Solomon Saanu Bonu, former SA to Governor on Tourism, Art and Culture, veteran actors, tourism experts across the nation with different performances from each state.
