I am highly delighted to address my fellow Ikosi-isherians, Lagosians, and Nigerians at large, both at home and in diaspora, present here today or watching this event through any platform across the globe. I welcome you all to this auspicious event – Ikosi-isheri Ketu Magodo Annual Cultural Carnival 2022.

The theme of this year’s edition: OUR CULTURE, NOT OUR RELIGION, aims to articulate the distinction between culture and religion. As Nigerians and Africans, we have manifold cultures, some being intertwined with religion across the diverse tribes and ethnics in our country and continent. However, our religious differences should debar us not from celebrating our lofty culture and traditions.

All over the world, cultures are being celebrated not only because it unites and educates us, but because it’s a better way of celebrating our differences, as well as our common interests. In Ikosi-isheri LCDA, we are proud to say that we are one Nigerians, living in peace and harmony; we are united in our diversities!

This 2-days event, commencing today 30th September till tomorrow 1st October 2022, also gives us a better opportunity to celebrate our Nation’s 62st Independence Anniversary in style as seen during the cultural parade we had earlier this morning from the Council Secretariat down to this venue. You would have witnessed carnival floats and pageantry of various cultures, and in addition to that, am assuring you of maximum fun here today and Saturday as we would be having loads of outstanding creative performers from various fields of display and socio-cultural group such as Fuji Maestro – Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal K1 de Ultimate, Sir Shina Peters, Obesere Omorapala, Pasuma, Qdot, Saheed Balogun, Koffi, MC Mallam Audu, Bella Shmurda, OT, SATO Dancers (from Badagry), Olaijo Art & Gallery (Ibadan), Ewi and several upcoming artistes to entertain us.

This administration upon assumption of office, promised to be in line with Governor Sanwo-olu’s THEMES developmental agenda for a greater Lagos in which Entertainment and Tourism took integral parts.

As a responsible and proactive government, our administration has decided to use this cultural carnival characterized with entertainment and tourism to enunciate the importance of our forgotten traditions, promote unity irrespective of our religious and ethnic differences, to encourage investors to come and establish in Ikosi-isheri LCDA (i will like to use this opportunity to tell investors that we have lands available), to promote cultures and colors of various ethnics and communities in Ikosi-isheri LCDA, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Let me use this medium to present to our stakeholders, partners, guests present here today and listeners, some of our projects and activities which indeed have touched most strata of the economy, and as a result bringing dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of residents of this amiable LCDA since inception of this administration. • Establishment of the 1st Customary Court in Ikosi-isheri LCDA
• Construction of Ikosi Fruit Market, Phase I; Phase II is ongoing
• Construction of Jamiu Balogun Street
• Construction of Mile 12 Market Ring Road
• Construction of Femi Oguns Street, Shangisha
• Construction of Ademola Oshinowo Street, Orile-Ikosi
• Construction of Olayemi Odutayo Street, Ikosi-oke
• Construction of Alhaji Yekini Aromolate Street, Ikosi-oke
• Construction of Oluyombo Street, Ikosi-Ketu
• Construction of Elegbeleye Street, Ikosi-ketu
• Construction of Tunde Abimbola Street, Magodo
• Construction of Drainage at Ifelodun Street, Ajegunle
• Construction of Atinmo Street, Ikosi-ketu
• Construction of Drainage at Olabisi Balogun Street, Orile-ikosi
• Construction of Daniel Makinde Street, Orile-ketu

• Construction of potable water bore hole in Harmony Community, Orisha
• Purchase of Staff Bus for Ikosi-isheri LCDA Public servants
• Purchase of Utility Bus for Ikosi-isheri LCDA Legislative Arm
• Purchase of patrol vehicles for the divisional Police Station
• Purchase of utility vehicles for the chieftaincy
• Purchase of revenue vehicles for easy revenue collection
• Purchase of official vehicles for Executive and Legislative members of the LCDA
• Purchase of Ambulance Bus for Ikosi-isheri LCDA Public Health Centre
• Purchase of 300KVA Transformer to Ikosi Central CDA
• Purchase of 500KVA Transformer to Maidan-Orile-Patele community
• Purchase of Transformer to God First CDA, Ajegunle

• Establishment of MAYORESS Football Team (Boys & Girls) and issuance of Monthly allowances to the players and officials
• Appointment of youths in Ikosi-isheri LCDA administration
• Distribution of Furniture and Educational materials (books, socks, bags, mathematical sets, writing materials, benches and desks, staff furniture and hand sanitizers
• Skill training and Distribution of vulcanizing equipment to apprentices
• Construction of boreholes at Expressway Primary School and Ikosi Primary School
• Organizing Spelling-bee competition among the 12 primary schools in the LCDA
• Establishment of One-day Executive Council Chairman
• Distribution of JAMB and GCE forms to Ikosi-isheri youths

• Establishment of Ikosi-isheri Annual Cultural Carnival
• Organization of a Youth Talent Show
• Periodic distribution of food palliatives and stipends to Ikosi-isheri community members
• Monthly donation of cash welfare packages to youths, widows and elderly
• Regular incentives and bonus to political office holders and civil servants
• Regular welfare packages to stakeholders and community members during festive periods

• Weekly Environmental Sanitation in Ikosi-isheri LCDA communities
• Periodic desilting of drainages across the LCDA
• Periodic Immunization and Maternal care
• Distribution of COVID-19 Palliatives during the lock down
• Periodic Vaccinations

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen of repute, the afore-mentioned are my campaign promises being kept and we are still doing more.
