NIGERIA, A COUNTRY OF BABOONS.
Nigeria, is no doubt currently sitting on a keg of gun powder, and as it appears, it will explode soonest and no one, not a single individual, will come out unhurt. This presupposes that something drastic must be done now to change the narrative, and Avery the pending disaster.
The race for the Presidency come 2023 is fast hurting up. Politicians are doing theirs dirty jobs to gain advantage over their opponents. In Lagos for instance, it is no longer news that hoodlums are going about forcing motorists against their will to have a sticker of Tinubu’s picture pasted on their vehicles. This is unthinkable, unacceptable, barbaric, unconstitutional, and primitive. Politics in this country is the game of “Survival of the fittest” Politicians , except for a handful of them, are willing to go extremes just to win an election to satisfy their personal desires. No one really cares about the nation or the electorate, rather, almost everyone of them is in politics just for his selfish interest.
So am impelled to ask once again, where are the Patriots? The so called social Critics are fighting for their stomachs, not less than ninety percent of the self acclaimed human rights activists are fighting for their stomachs, the Politicians want to take over power not to serve the people but themselves, the judiciary are issuing judgements just to fill their stomachs, this is a vicious circle that has entangled all of us and held us stagnated as a people.
But very soon, considering the way things are going, one cannot but foresee a time, when on the farms, the hen will brood without chicks hatched, the apple threes will come into bloom , but no bees will drone among the blossoms, so there will be no pollination and there will be no fruits.
Even the streams will be lifeless, because all the fish had died. No witchcraft, not even enemies could be held responsible for this, but the people themselves, I mean, you and I.
How could anyone not see the retrogression of our nation since this Buhari government forced itself on us,, why can’t we for once, just for the sake of our nation, throw away sentiments, Political allienations and tell ourselves the plain truth, so we could in oneness, as a people seek a lasting solution to our problem as a nation.
Did I say as a nation? Are we actually a nation? We are yet to be one, because a nation is where you have a group of people who are driven with the same purpose of general interest, without ethnicism, despotism, and nepotism. That is to say categorically, a nation is an association of people who identify their shared core values, they give themselves a constitution that establishes institutions that make up a state. But here in Nigeria, our supposed nation has been collapsed or reduced into a state. In essence, we don’t have a nation, what we have now is just a country, and until we a nation, we will continue to live in confusion of diversities. Diversities of social and Political ideologies without sense of oneness at some point. Therefore, we are just a country of baboons, where everyone only cares for himself.
