OTUNBA CHIEF MRS JOSEPHINE ONOIMUOKO DIYA (JP), COMPLETES 40 DAYS TRADITIONAL MOURNING RITES FOR LATE LT. GEN. DONALDSON OLADIPO DIYA GCON FULL OF GRATITUDE TO GOD
Thursday 7th September, 2023, made it exactly 41 days that late Lt. Gen Donaldson oladipo Diya GCON, former Chief of General Staff under Abacha Govt and former Military Administrator of Ogun state was laid to rest. 40 days of mourning and no contact with the outside world are expected of the partner of the deceased. It is a traditional rite which has it’s biblical roots ( Exodus 34 vs 28. Genesis 8 vs 6 ). Chief Mrs Diya honored our late General.
On the 41st day, all clothes used during the mourning period are discarded with forever. It’s such an emotional period that some widows do not survive it or some tragic things tend to happen to members of such families. When a Widow survives it without any record of tragic event, she is full of grace from God. Otunba Chief Mrs Josephine.O.Diya ( JP ) survived hers and marked it with Hymns, Songs of Praises and Prayers rendered unto God By Bishops, Pastors, General Diya’s Children, family friends and well wishers yesterday @ at the Diya’s residence at Adekunle Fajuyi Way, GRA Ikeja, Lagos. Member Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council and former Senator representing Lagos East, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Captain & Chief Mrs Sunny Adegbuyi, Barrister Kehinde Diya, Secretary to the Diya Dynasty of Odogbolu, were in attendance. It was a joyful atmosphere full of grace.
Kudos to Otunba Chief Mrs Diya and the Children for firstly giving Baba General Diya a befitting funeral ceremony spanning 7 days and then also following and preserving tradition.
Eyin Baba ti da already.
Continue to rest on in peace the people’s General.
