In an effort to support the current administration and enlighten Christians, at a recent summit held at BMM Light House in Ogudu GRA, Lagos, prominent Christian leaders has called for a return to sacrificial leadership modeled after Jesus Christ.

The event, organized by the Abuja Christian Centre for Mission, Family and Leadership Development, emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize honesty, sincerity, and public service to foster national growth and fulfill the Great Commission.

Rev. Dr. Isaac Komolafe, Executive Director of the Centre, addressed members of the press, stressing the importance of leaders at all levels of government leading with selflessness. He highlighted the summit’s theme, “Bridging The Gap,” which seeks to address pressing issues affecting churches in Nigeria through collaboration between mission agencies and religious institutions.

“The summit aims to address critical issues impacting our churches negatively. We belong to both the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and we recognize that our leaders have not fully lived up to the Great Commission mandate. Our goal is to find positive channels to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ more effectively,” said Rev. Komolafe.

He urged parents to instill good values, norms, and morals in their children, preparing them to lead with the same sacrificial spirit demonstrated by Jesus. He also called on leaders to halt the irresponsible accumulation of wealth and to use resources for the public good.

Rev. Samuel Oluwagbohunmi, General Overseer of Barnabas Ministries International (Chapel of Reconciliation), shared his organization’s efforts in conflict resolution and supporting vulnerable groups, spending nearly N300,000 monthly on stipends. He emphasized the need for leaders to be guided by the Holy Spirit to lead effectively.

“In a recent missionary journey, our team visited 22 villages in a riverine area of Lagos. Sadly, only one village had a church. This underscores the immense task we have in fulfilling the Great Commission,” Rev. Oluwagbohun noted.

Guest speaker Rev. Dr. Toluwase Olumide Olalekan from the Nigerian Evangelical Mission Association delivered an insightful presentation on the summit’s theme. He addressed various challenges, including resource allocation, conflict resolution, and external pressures, urging leaders to stay true to the mission of spreading the Gospel.

Goodwill messages were delivered by several notable figures, including Mama Jacinta Adebola Olusoga, who shared her transition from academia to Christian mission work, and Bekwele Mgbah, a trustee of CEMLED and Coordinator of Missions Evangelism for the Foursquare Gospel Church’s Northern Region.

The one-day summit, spiritually moderated by Dr. Agbaji Orinya, concluded with a strong call for Christian leaders to lead with the same selfless dedication exemplified by Jesus Christ.
