SAM OHUABUNWA: THE SHINING AMBASSADOR OF INTEGRITY.

Mazi Samuel Iheanyichukwu OHUABUNWA, OFR, is a high profile Nigerian Pharmacist, Politician and Business Executive. He is Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Neimeth pharmaceutical. A former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.

Sam OHUABUNWA is one of the ten Eminent Nigerians recently admitted into the First Ever ” INTEGRITY HALL OF FAME IN NIGERIA” His selection for the prestigious Hall of Fame was predicated on his very impressive track record of Diligence, Patriotism, and above all, his high sense of Integrity.

Sam OHUABUNWA was born August 16, 1950, in Port Harcourt. After his Primary and Secondary education, he gained admission in 1972, to study Pharmacy at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo, University. He graduated in 1976. He thereafter , had Post Graduate Training in Business and Organizational Management at the Columbia University, in New York City, USA.

Sam OHUABUNWA joined Pfizer as Sales Representative in 1978, and later became the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Pfizer Nigeria. In 1997, he was offered the opportunity to lead a Management Buy Over of sixty-percent equity investments, and this gave rise to Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, an indigenous Company today in Nigeria.

He retired from his role as a CEO of Neimeth Plc in 2011 after serving in that capacity for 18years.

Mazi Sam OHUABUNWA is a Fellow of the Nigerian Pharmaceutical Sociey, as well as, became its Chairman. He was also the Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, former Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. Also a Fellow of the West Africa Post Graduate College of Pharmacists, Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Pharmacy, Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management and several other professional bodies.

In the public sector, he was a member of the Presidential Committee on vision 2010, and vision 2020 National Development Plans.

Mazi Sam has also been on the Board of Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research and Nigerian Health Insurance Scheme. He was appointed on the Board of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program by President Good luck Jonathan.

Sam OHUABUNWA was also Chairman of the Governing Board of Abia State Polytechnic,as well as, Board of Abia State Teaching Hospital.

In 2021, he declared his interest for the Presidency of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections under the newly formed party , New Nigeria Group,(NNG).

In recognition of his meritorious service to Nigeria, he is a recipient of three National Honours. In 2001, he was awarded Member of the order of the Niger( MON), by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2011. He was also awarded Officerof the Federal Republic (OFR), by President Good luck Jonathan, and the National Productivity Order of Merit ( NPON) in 2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari. He was also conferred with the prestigious, Integrity Man of the year award, by Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ). He was subsequently admitted into the First Ever INTEGRITY HALL OF FAME IN NIGERIA, by the same Association.

Mazi Sam OHUABUNWA is married and blessed with five Children and ten grandchildren and still counting.

He is a Christian by religion and a knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria. He is also the National co ordinator of the Strategic Outreaches Group of the. Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship in Nigeria. Above all, he is a highly esteemed Ambassador of Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ).
