PVC Naija Encourages Nigerians With
Independence Walk; i-Walk
A non-profit making organization, Project Victory Call Naija on Monday October 2, 2023, held its 2nd annual independence day walk tagged; i-Walk, in Lagos and other states in Nigeria.
This year’s i-Walk held with different inscriptions written on the placards of the participants such as “i-Walk for justice,” “freedom,” “accountability,” “drug abuse,” “transparency,” “equality,” “free expression,” “cultism” etc, and these were used to create awareness, most especially about happenings in the country, and for the people not to lose hope.
Speaking with journalists immediately after the walk terminated along Agidingbi Road, Ikeja, Lagos, the convener of the event, Dr. Bolaji Akinyemi stated that this year’s i-Walk is designed to emphasise “good governance” in Nigeria.
Akinyemi attributed the hardship currently being experienced in Nigeria as “national infidelity” as he said that most of the people who are married to Nigeria are not faithful to her.
He therefore suggested that the people should impregnate Nigeria with prayers, and good ideas so that she can deliver fruitfulness, and the high dreams the people have concerning her.
Speaking about the death of a young, budding music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, who was brought down in his moment of glory by circumstances allegedly relating to drug and cultism, Akinyemi said that the walk was staged to say “no To drug abuse and cultism.”
“The annual walk to celebrate the independence of our dear country every October, started last year. Our maiden edition was captioned “i-Walk: No To Vote Buying!” Its acceptance by Nigerians in major state capitals was remarkable. Little surprise therefore about the success we recorded then,” Akinyemi stated.
He further said that PVC Naija, an advocacy group, ‘operates developmental engagement through project initiations.
“We headline projects such as Community Political Education (CPE), A Night 4 Naija, Community Ambassador for Peaceful Election (CAPE), and Legislative Revolution Network (LRN), which are all up and running.”
Also speaking from women perspective, Mrs Elizabeth Adeola-Oluwadotun spoke about the impact of i-Walk on women.
“We all hope and believe in Nigeria. I caught the vision and joined the convener of i-Walk. I saw vision of restoration coming back to Nigeria, it’s going to be good and better. When I saw the vision, it gingered me for more hope,” she said.
Oluwadotun stated that so many things have happened to the country in the past such as accidents, COVID-19 amongst others, which she said could not consume the nation.
“If only our eyes could be opened to see the Lord who made us to survive all these issues, we will see that He is able to restore us, it’s our belief and it shall come to pass,” she said.
Another i-Walker, Rev’d Gideon Gbekeloluwa is optimistic about the country and said that just as it was displayed on the placards, it’s just to create awareness for freedom, accountability, and things that could add to the well being of Nigerians.
According to Rev’d Gbekeloluwa, “if i don’t believe in the betterment of Nigeria, then I don’t believe in what we are doing here.
“I don’t have any country apart from Nigeria. People, who said that Nigeria is not good, don’t criticise or blame them, they are talking out of frustration, but we will continue to appeal to them.
“We hope and believe in God and I refuse to be frustrated about what’s currently going on in the country. As Christians, we would continue to hope and believe in God.”
